Move 1: Athlete's Journeys

Athletes all around the world, from pee wee to professional have different ways of training their bodies. This move focuses on three professional athletes who have pushed their bodies above and beyond the limits. Their stories show how close they came to being a victim of overtraining...

The first three athletes I researched were Jenny Simpson, Melvin Gordon and Manny Pacquiao, three of my featured "VIPS". If you read the VIP section, you will see that each of these athletes differ. For example, "People like Gordon and Pacquiao, who have a goal in mind and would do anything to reach it, tend to test their bodies to the point where overtraining is a major concern. Simpson, on the other hand, has a different approach to training" (Capstone- Move1).

Gordon has always prided himself upon hard work, "In high school, Gordon was projected to be an average Division 2 college player; however, he was determined to surprise people who doubted him. His dream was to attend a Division 1 school. How was he going to do this? He was going to train his body to become the best version of himself" (Capstone-Move 1).

In this video, Gordon explains that his training has changed, even intensified as he approached the NFL draft. He says "He has always been a hard worker... [But] he is being pushed by the guys, coaches, everyone..."
